Can I turbo my Dual Carb D series EG

New to forum,

I was wondering if I am able to turbo a carburetor engine? I've got a 93 civic with a D15 engine. I've had a mate tell me that I shouldn't turbo a carb engine due to the pressurised air going through the carb which will cause the injector to leak fuel. Does this mean I have to go the EFI / VTEC Route? man thats expensive. Are there any other suggestions? Alternatively can i modify the carbies to cope with the extra psi? Any help would be much appreciated.

you can turbo a carb'd engine you just tune it with jets in stead of a computer. and it will not be as accurate. you shouldnt have in jectors if it is carburated either. and why is your 93 carburated any way? where do you live?

Its probably a DPFI and he thinks its carburated.

Get a MPFI swap and call it a day, then turbo it the next.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a carbie, SOHC hunk a junk. All the mechanics I've spoken to tell me it's a carb. I live in Sydney Australia. Yeah something about turbo systems being either draw through or blow through. So how should I combat this issue? Thanks heaps

i would if i had a camera, but i'm at work at the moment. the intake manifold ain't there, there's a big ugly black filter box and the carbies are just after it. Reckon I should go with the swap, if there's nothing i can do?

yes you can do it with drawn through jets, but your intercooler and charge pipes become a bomb. good luck bro

Look down for pics. Might give you some ideas.

id go blow through because on pull through carb-turbos the fuel condences on the inside of the intercooler and traps fuel wich isnt good so you cant run an intercooler another this is that you have fuel air mix going through the turbo compressor wich isnt good for seals (i think special seals are needed) and if your engine bay is cramped the compressor will get hot, personally id feel safer without fuel flowing through the turbo. there are quite a few pull thruogh setups but i wouldnt feel safe with that personally about the only good point is no bov.
