can a 92-95 cx motor handle a sohc greddy kit??change of plans

change of plans guyz.. now im gettin a jdm d15b vtec motor. will this be good with a cx tranny turbo charged? cuz thats the only tranny i have to work with.

Well unless you slap a 16 valve head on there it won't make any power. It should be alright if you run a dx head or any 16 valve sohc head.

i think it is a 16 valve head.. isnt it?

I just did a little searching on metacrawler because I can't get google for some reason. >:(

Anyways, you basically got yourself a newer crx HF motor. The numbers are almost identical and yes it's an 8 valve. I would just leave it the way it is or you might end up motorless again. :(

I guess if you don't mind doing all the work installing the turbo and a 16 valve head or whatever go for it. :)

can i install a 92-95 dx head? thats 16 valve right? cuz i have one left over from my old dx motor.. the one i blew the block with. oh will the cx dizzy fit on the dx head?

Just boost it like it is...but don't go crazy on it

dx dizzy, head, IM and CX block..

ONE catch, make sure the CX pistons have 4 valve releifs per cyl not 2 otherwise a 16v head would introduce pistons to valves.

Ya double check the pistons reliefs but a buddy of mine ran a cx block w/ a z6 head and he was fine. After you slap on the dx 16 valve head you have basically a dx motor. Make sure to run the dx or a sohc vtec ex/si intake manifold. The cx manifold is pathetic and will kill having the new head. Not to mention it has like a 36 mm tb compared to a 56 mm dx one

I'd say just boost the CX motor. The turbo will MAKE EVERYTHING FLOW. Its not going to be fast at all, but at least you can polish up on your turbo install skills.

The DX/CX combo will make more power, but you may wanna check the compression ratios. I know that a VX head on a D16A6 is like 15/1 compression. Most honda heads have different camber CC from one head to the next as well as piston height changes.

FOr instance, my D16Z6 motor has dish pistons, while my D16A6 head was meant for flat pistons = low compression 8.4/1.
Now the "mini-me" The D16A6 has flat pistons and if you put a head that is meant for dished pistons on it = high compression.

Is all this crap really worth it for a temp engine set-up ?

My friend had a 255K mile HF CRX that had a JRSC @ 5.5psi and a zex 55shot, and the motor never died b/c the heads couldn't flow enough to break the block, and the seals (pistons and valves )leaked all the combustion.
