camgears

I was wondering if this statement had any truth to it? A b18 needs cam gears when a turbo is added because of detonation issues?

Re: camgears

NO depends on what you are using as fuel mangament, if you have uberdata, you can control the timing from there.

Re: camgears

from my understanding the use of adjustable camgears is to tune cams, example you have a set of performance cams, you need to to tune them to the best perfomance as posible, I got a set of GSR cams that I plan to retard the intake side about 3 degrees and leave the exhaust side stock

Re: camgears

as said before, you dont tune out detonation with cam gears

i can tell you this, by altering my exhaust cam in a certain direction i was able to speed up boost by 3-400 rpms, due to exhuast flow velocity and when it left the combustion chamber/ how much left at that specific time, and more

we can all make good guesses at cam gear settings, but you should reall put it on a dyno to understand the full use

oh and you can pick up more power even with stock cams, just by degreeing them where your set up needs them
