When my car sits at idle for a while i'll start to kick some oil smoke out my exhaust then when i go to take off it's like a huge cloud turns off then the car is normal again, or if i'm stuck in traffic, going 5 mph for a few feet then stop and 5mph for a few feet stop, go again. you know the normal traffic jam ----, i'll burn oil out the exhuast but once i start driving normal again it all goes away? What could this be, i'm thinking it's still my oil return, but i really htink it's the actual motor is leaning forward, because if i take the fitting off my oil pan oil pour out of the pan as if it's above the return hole, here a pic with the motor out of the car Attachment 33747. I'm really getting tired of this ----, i think i'm just goin to strip the car and sell off the parts. Think i woul dget more money leaving the motor together or stripping it and selling the parts off?

Oil seals are fine, checked them the other day not blowing oil on either side, charge piping has no oil, and by the time i can check the exhaust everythignis burned off. it was just rebuilt by majestic.
How is the greddy exhaust elbow the problem? I know it sucks ass but can you explain? I've been looking into a 3" Vband setup so i can get rid of it but i'm just not sure what the actual problem is with the oil ----. |

its probably leaking from that fitting. Take the fitting off and put some silicone on it. Problem solved :6

that wet ness was from kicking over an oil can onto the exhuast elbow.
Fittings aren't leaking and even if they were it would cause smoke IN my exhaust. This pic was when the motor was out of the car after rebuild, that oil stain isn't on the elbow anymore. I was just posting that pic to see if every one thing the return was at a good angle. I'm really thinking that because i don't have the from torque/ac moutn hooked up the motor is leaning slightly forward and making th oil sit in the front of the pan blocking the return hole. |
do u have a catchcan? Stock pcv?

I had the exact same problem, and re-configuring my oil return line helped a lot. I still get a little puff of smoke if I sit at a light for more than a minute upon take off, but not near as bad as before. All smoking at idle has disappeared.
The oil line drains by gravity forces - crankcase pressure. Your drain line is too horizontal, you need to move your oil bung as close to the turbo as possible. |
is your oil level too high? do you have an oil pressure restrictor at the turbo oil feed inlet?
