Broke something... Pics up.

Been wondering why my damn motor is torquing so much. I can visibly see the motor going up 2 or 3 inches when I drive because my WG sticks out of my hood a bit through a hole I cut out. Ive got energy inserts in too.

Noticed today that the passenger (trans) side mount bracket thats welded to the frame came apart from the frame. And some of the frame with it.

Fluxcored madness come monday. Gonna drop the motor, bang the bracket back onto the frame and weld the birdshit out of it.

Wish me luck. Pics will be up Monday.

Turbo D FTW.

Here are the pics. They are shitty as hell and make it look terrible, but it doesnt look so bad in person.
Wanted to get pics up of before and after but my camera battery was dead. Once I was done my pal lended me a battery lol.

Isn't one of the main causes of blown trannies wheel hop? Suspension setup?

D16Y8-Z6 02-24-2008 08:56 AM

Re: Broke something...

Well the trans is fine. Its the bracket thats welded to the frame that ripped off.

BTW I dont have any wheel hop unless its raining.

Traction bars, GC Coilovers and alignment done by me.

Yea Ive seen those. My pal has one on an RSX and it helps a bit.

I bolted a chain to my block and wrapped it around my cross member, with a long bolt and nut for tension. Gonna see how that works up after I weld the mount bracket.

Old schoolers did the chain trick a lot.

One of my coworkers has an 8 second chevelle, he threw the idea out to me a while back.

Re: Broke something... Pics up.

The only problem I can see on these picture is fatigue on weld cause by shear stress. This mount would be stronger with bolts since the torque change directions often when driving. If your weld crack a bit, it will crack all along. I can be wrong, but with the pictures I see that's what I'm thinking. I hope for you and your car that I am wrong lol ;D

Re: Broke something... Pics up.

I hope your wrong too !

As I pulled the car into the shop today I didnt realize how bad it really was.

I unbolted the mount and the bracket came with it. It totally seperated from the frame.
It was a fun experience reshaping it and welded it back.
I drilled out the factory spot welded and realigned them all with small bolts, then welded around the bracket. And finally removed the bolts and rewelded the spot welds.

I THINK it will do just fine.

Say what?

I don't think you understand the difference between shear stress and fatigue failure.

Re: Broke something... Pics up.

I know what is the difference between shear stress and fatigue assholes. Fatigue is a repeated movement. Shear stress appear by the torque of the engine. So if it break it will be by the "fatigue cause by the frequently changes in direction of the shear stress".

So shut up.

It's funny because your mom was just eating my blueberry waffles.

And by eating I mean sucking, and by blueberry waffles I mean my blue-berry condom wearing dick.

I didn't want to risk the herp.
