brass nozzle?
hey guys, im having trouble identifying a part of my turbo. i tried searching but couldn't find anything.
anyways its a brass nozzle on the bottom side of the turbo by the compressor discharge. it is a gt30r if that helps any. |
is your turbo internally gated or external?
On internally wastegated turbos, that brass port serves as a vacuum source that connects to the internal wastegate by way of a rubber hose and that is what opens the wastegate when the wastegate spring has exceeded its max psi limit. ( 6-8 psi on most internally gated turbos) And that's what keeps the turbo from over-boosting. here is a link to show you what i'm talking about: Google Image Result for http://www.roadraceengineering.com/parts/turbos/pte_turbo/pte_turbo.jpg Turbos w/out an internal wastegate can also have these ports. i had one on my t3/t4 50 trim turbo. It can be used for a vacuum source on many things. On my turbo S2000 setup i used it to open both my external wastgate and my tial blow off valve . i did this by using a T-fitting. hope this helps you out! 8) |
the brass nozzle is the wastegate boost reference port. put a vacuum line to the brass port on the compressor housing and the other end of the vacuum line goes to your wastegate port.
