brake lines for oil feed lines !!!
I asked my turbo shop that's rebuilding my turbo about some custom steel braided lines and he says "OK" that's no problem at all. Well today he gives me the bad news... my Compressor wheel hit the housing and needs replaced, but that's irrevent... When I asked him about the lines and he said, "I'm gonna tell ya my secect to perfect oil feed lines !!" take your turbo and oil presure tee fittings to your local speed shop ( I my case he recommended one ) and tell him you need a -3an brake line with fittings at each end that match your turbo and T-fitting, and he'll either have a line there, OR be able to order you one !!"
Its low cost, pre assembled, and its all one peice !! There are no lines to crimp or anything like that. There's a fitting on each end that will screw directly into the turbo and the T-fitting !! Just thought I'd share the info, I'll let you guys know how "cost effective" it is on Thursday or Friday when I get my turbo back. But I can't imagine it'll cost more than $87 for one brake line... |

..cool man... -3 an line isn't that hard to come by, you can buy it from summit racing for like 20 bucks.

The local hot rod store around here sells -4 AN stainless braided line for $4 a foot. The AN fittings are what end up jacking the price up. You don't have to use them though and still get the major advantages of stainless line.

here's my secret: discount auto, auto zone, napa, they all have those already made you just bend them to fit and tighten the fittings.

EARLS makes pre made lines with AN style ends.. not the fancy blue and red ----. but they work. and cheap

i spent like $120. for a brake line, fittings, and blue outside red inside silicon hose couplers at a hydraulic shop. i didn't want to order them and recieve the wrong ones.

I priced them today. $25 plus tax for the feedline ready to "bolt-on" and I forgot to ask about the returnline ( which is just going to be a 6-10'' peice of braided line.
The Speed shop own told me that he'd match everything up for me since I told him " I suck at fitts, thread, and stuff". I've been on HMT for around 2 years and I've never heard of using brake lines, sorry if its "old news", maybe I just never bothered to look. |

well they are the same materials usually. Silicone hose with braided shielding.
