Default Braided SS oil line question

I bought an oil return line and some random AN fittings and there is a little bit of a problem with the line. The red fitting (see below in the pic) was loose on the line and i pulled it off really easily. It won't go back on now. I try to shove it on, but the end is just too frayed.

Should I just cut off the end to get a clean, non-frayed end so the fitting will go on? Also, would a regular hack-saw be able to cut that? So far, I have learned that Stainless Steal > my small wire cutters > my crappy scissors :P

Wrap the end tight with a piece of electrical tape before you cut it. Rap enough so you can cut through the tape with a hacksaw. The tape will prevent the end from fraying.

Thanks. I'll give that a try (after I "borrow" a hacksaw from my neighbor)

and by tight, he means pull that tape so godamn hard you can see the texture of the braided through the tape. If you do it too loose the same thing is gonna happen again.

I don't use hacksaws on that stuff. Tin snips or Diagonal cutters own return lines.

I personally prefer the chop saw. Too much work with a hacksaw.
