BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
Can it be done without hurting anything?

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
Does the Engine have a throttle body? Most diesels don't have a throttle body and instead work by throttling the amount of fuel being burned. If it doesn't have a throttle body theres no point in putting a BOV on one because it will never open.

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
someone posted awhile back that its pretty much pointless to put a bov on a diesel engine, it was linked to vwvortex.com

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
An exhaust brake would be cooler... marginally.

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
actually, one that was driven from teh alternator vac pump and controlled by a tps switch on the gas pedal with a solenoid could be useful to keep the turbo semi spooled on a shift... i think, but maybe not.

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
u all forgot about the maf sensor

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
is this some modern POS ecu controlled diesel, or a reliable injector pumped diesel (which was the majority, and should stay that way for diesels intended purpose of pulling heavy ---- around, particularly partly under water.) if the latter, it doesnt have one, if the former, the man has a point, and it would be best to leave it alone.

Re: BOV on VW Turbo Diesel???
it does... from the brake vacuum pump on the alternator (thats where it usually lives) and most existing diesel engines dont have an ecu...
they dont have any spark plugs either ;-) |

provided it is an engine with an injector pump on it. i'm not saying that i'd bother, or that its worth it, but it could be done, and could have a benefit. |
