Bov signal line.
 
Guys Im installing my BOV line and had a doubt.
There are two places I can take the Signal line from.

1. From the manifold T off from the same line that feeds the distributor vacum advance.

2. From just under the Buterfly i.e. from the carb plate.

WIth option one I see that the vacum is more i.e. the Bov seems to be floating a lot its only after 3000 RPM that it goes to fully closed.

With option 2. The BOV seems to be closed most of the time and only lifts when I let off on the Gas.

Where is the BOV line normally taken from on a carbed car.
This is a blow thru setup.

anywhere AFTER the throttle body(butterfly) is fine.

Yeah man thats what all them books say.
But what messed me up.
Is how totally diffirent she behaves based on where Im taping the line.
Guess Im just gona have to try both and see which one she runs best on.

What about best place to put the BOV before the intercooler after the intercooler. Near to the carb away from the carb ?

Yeah man carb. EFI is for wusses who dont know how to tune a carb ;D
Anybody can work with an efi.
Why carb cause most of you guys said it couldnt be done ^-^
Just kiding.


Ok jokes aside.
I have this query about BOVs that is friging keeping me up nights.
Ok so I have this line from under the carb conected to the BOV.
I also have a gauge hooked up to this line.

Now when we start off we accelrate till boost comes on there is a vacum. So the BOV is open. So your trying to accelrate the car with an open BOV. Eventually boost kicks in and the BOV shuts.
Now compare this to a car without a Bov. He accelrates. THere is no BOV. So no leak and his spool up is much faster.

Am I missing something here.

When you get on the throttle, the butterfly opens and there is little or no vacuum. When the turbo spools, the BOV should already be closed, with the bov line connected to the intake manifold. No leaks, the bov serves it purpose, no slower spool. Jokes aside. Agreed?

Its not hapening.
Ive got a sexy set of vacum gauges from a mate who uses it to tune his big bikes. Long lines so you keep the 4 gauge cluster inside the car.
All the diffirent vacum points give you diffirent vacum readings and the readings change in diffirent ways. So far the fastest acting and most violent position is off the manifold. Next is under the buterfly.
If you say so it must be so.
But I still observe the same. When you first hit the accelrator there is a strong vacum which lifts the Bov then boost come on and closes the BOV. Dont belive me see for your self. Or install a whistel into the Bov exit and listen to it.
Im still keeping my BOV cause. When I change gears the turbo wheel keeps spining where as on his it kinda gets a rude shock and allmost comes to a stand still. So I gain there.
