BOV question.. kinda a ricey question though.

When I go turbo.. I would like to get a nice loud BOV..

Whats different about stock BOV's and aftermarket.. I would really like a nice sounding blow off valve.. something that can clearly be heard. I know to some that probably sounds pretty ricey, but to me.. it just appeals to me.

How much should i expect to pay for a nice sounding loud BOV? HKS? Are stock BOV's loud? THanks! Any help is appreciated.

---- spending 200-400bucks on a BOV. buy a 1st gen DSM BOV. i got one, its loud, annoying, gets peoples attention, it does its job, and the best part is it was 20bucks!!!!!! 8)

I hate those BOV's that sound like someones squeezing a fart out. Those high pitched one.

If you are going for performance, go with the Godzilla/HKS SSKV or Tial BOV.

If you want something that sounds really good, and still performs well, go with the Blitz BOV's and the Greddy's

If you like a "whip" sounding BOV, the TiAL will give it to you... I'm very happy with the sound of the TiAL even though that is not the reason i bought it... hehe.

But if you are looking for a cheap but loud setup, those DSM one's will give it to you :)

HKS Super Sequencial Blow off Valve its the best, i have that on my Protege, on low boots its does a funny whistle sound, but when you are racing its sounds really lound and if you have high boost it sound like 3 times in a row.

go to www.yahoo.com and on the search write
"blow off valves wav" and a page that says GT4 contain the sound of different blow off valves, greddy, TurboXS, HKS..... Enjoy

you might want to try and grab one out of a 95 or newer body talon/eclipse i have one on my car. yess it is plastic and it a taches to the plastic pipe. this thing is pretty loud in my civic. i usually have people back off after they hear it go off (blew my motor they think) and then thats when the automatic kicks in hard. and bu buy.

i have a Greddy Type-s and its holding 1.1bar perfectly fine it has a nice whistle to it.. at very low boost 1 - 3 psi it flutters and the tension spring is as soft as it can get but its fine.. from 5psi and up its that nice whistle sound they have... and it holds the boost really well better than my old turbo xs.. i give it a thumbs up... next to test is HKS SS

if you wanna go cheap, my 88 supra turbo bov sounds like someone exhaling loudly. not real loud but not wimpy sounding. i've seen them on ebay for about $10. what really gets'em is when I pull up to the red light, and my car starts smoking real bad from the exhaust, ;D turbo seals gone, new turbo going on this week I hope.

im gonna try something kinda stupid.... but i hope it works..... I got a 2G DSM BOV.... the plastic kind (dont trip im not gonna be pushing that much boost,7PSI) for 10$ off DSM trader... well i wanted something nicer... but i was on a budget... anyways... something like a Blitz... or HKS you know the ones that have those nifty little horns... well i was at Wal-mart and i pass by where the bicycle horns were at... and i had the crazy idea.... what if i buy one of these horns and mold it onto the BOV... so its like 1 peice... with some fiberglass... i wonder what it would sound like... no im not on crack... i know it sounds crazy... what do you people think....???

Guys what do you think of this Greddy Blow off Valve. I'm getting this and a new Autometer Boost Gauge for $150 shipped. Is this a good deal? Also, I plan on using my CAI for charge piping, so I'll have to somehow weld this BOV on, is everything I need on the actual BOV?

Re:BOV question.. kinda a ricey question though.

im running the greddy type-s on my talon holding 18lbs of boost with no problems.... im gonna run the 1g bov on my integra just cause i got it laying around.

the type s gotta nice pitch too i heard it on a civic pushing 6 lbs but it didn't sound to impressive..but with 18lbs sounds waayyy better.

Re:BOV question.. kinda a ricey question though.

this may be me being bitchy again, but loud bov's tend not to be as efficient as quiet ones.. lots of air forced through a small hole = loud
lots of air forced through a large hole= not as loud but more efficient dumping of boost

try www.turbosmart.com.au

i have a large diaphragm bov on my car and it annoys the hell out of me, people who dont know anything about turbos think your car is fucked and it attracts the wrong type of attention to my car..
