bov help
 

hello i have recently put a custom turbo build to my 4G92 mitsubishi colt, the bov i used made the car idle really poor and stall when i pulled up at junctions.... once i removed the bov it ran sweet.

ive been told that the mitsubishi ecu is the cause as it can cause issues when coming to a stop after shutting off the TB (and venting) as the ECU has calibrated a certain amount of air flow into the enginer, and this then differs as its been released.

so my question is what bov do i need to buy?

i think the BOV you have is fine but where you have it hooked up is wrong. I personally run my BOV to a vacuum block not the throttle body from what i am understanding in your post. How do you have the vacuum even ran in your car. So more info on your setup might help me or other people figure out the cause of your problem.

i have the vacuum for the bov coming from a vaccum manifold off the brake master vacuum (not pictured)

hope this helps in some way to diagnose the problem....

Try hooking up your bov to a vaccum source right off the intake mani. Thats how stock turbo cars are set up.

if this vehicle has a maf sensor then a bov has to be mounted before the maf sensor otherwise the stalling will occur as your venting air the maf has already metered and the ecm thinks its being used in the engine. you have two options: move the maf sensor closer to the throttle body making it a blow through setup or install a bypass valve which will vent the excess air back into the turbo inlet.

yea i would try and find a source off of the intake manifold. That would be the best bet. As i said i run mine off of the vacuum block.
