It's spring pressure pre-load. When the valve starts to "crack open".

Wow man... just wow.

I think you are supposed to screw it in all the way...


Ok seriously I think you are supposed to screw it in all the way and then with the car idling you unscrew it until the BOV opens. Don't drive around with it screwed in all the way though....
