BOV
I was reading the new edition of Sport Compact car the other day and they had a write up on BOV's. I just thouht I would share a couple of the things I read.
The best BOV for around 10psi was the 2g DSM. Not taking into consideration of the sound, this is meant for pure drivability and performance. The 2g DSM BOV had the smallest spike right before it fully opened. All other BOV spiked from 10psi to like 13 b4 the psi dropped. the 2g dsm only to 11.5 psi, better for the turbo right? Also, I read that its best to have the BOV divert air back into the intake charge b4 the compressor inlet. Meaning have the re-direct the air back into the turbo air inlet (between the filter and the housing). This would help lag into the next gear. I forgot why, but i remember that it does help to re-direct air back into the inlet. |
Re:BOV
They have to recirculate the air, gay ass MAF systems... and plus the 7.8c/r doesnt help the laggy spool times.

Re:BOV
ya but what about the pressure spike from the BOV.
|
Re:BOV
What about it ???
|
Re:BOV
the idea of a BOV is to reduce the pressure spike to the turbo. and the 2g DSM BOV relieves it the quickest at 10psi according to the charts in the mag.

Re:BOV
Did they test my bov in that article?
Tial 55m? |
Re:BOV
forget boost spikes, none of the dsm'ers want them cuz they have trouble holding higher boost levels. that said, they practically give them away. i got one for $10. if you're running lower boost adn want to save some $$, the 2g is the way to go..

Re:BOV
Yeah I read the article and the spike from that bov is very small. I've heard different opinoins about how much prussure tehy will hold but never under 12 psi. Thats what I am goin to use.

Re:BOV
the pressure/vac feed to them can also be modded so they'll hold over 20psi.
