Re: BOV?

you can get a 1g dsm bov for under $50 shipped, I recently bought one off of dsm trader for $25 shipped. they are all metal and sound great. they will most likely hold all the boost you plan to throw at it. And it wont break your bank. Dont spend twice as much or more on some fancy name one when all it does is release pressure. Go overboard on fuel manegement or something really usefull.

Re: BOV?

Hey check out this site for some sound clips: www.blowoffvalves.com

I personally love the way the HKS SSQV sounds, but spending $200.00 bucks for a BOV is not in the budget right now.

Definitly go for the DSM one, it sounds good, is tried and true, and cheap as hell ;)

yeah, but you can rev a dsm and it will blow off, cant do it with a honda

blitz super sound, nice whoosh, not to loud either.

BTW, loud BOV's are for RICERS

this is not true.
duct taping a cazoo or a duck call to your bov is for ricers, or thoes cool ball bearing whistly things from little arcades.
i like to be able to hear my bov very well, its not a ricer thing

i just got my dsm 2gen crushed on, and it just sounds like my turbo downspooling. it sounds off when i let off, but when im expecting the pshh, all i hear is the turbo spooling down.

when i was installing the bov, there was alot of oil that came out of the port where the manifold vacuum is suppost to go.

BLAAST 05-07-2005 08:36 AM

Re: BOV?

on low budget setups. I use this one:

OF course it's a thaiwanese knock off, and the spring is always too tight so it needs to be cut but with that done, it performs very well, is MUCH easier than a DSM bov to install, it is adjusteable and at least, it is brand new and still very cheap.

Re: BOV?

How much for that BOV? I had a question too about BOVs. I see some are adjustable and some aren't. I really have no idea how to adjust them for my psi or at all for that matter. Anyone give me a quick crash course please? I was looking at the Bosch since it's cheap and no welding. Just use a T coupler and hose clamp it. Sound savvy?

Yeah, actually, it's installs the same as a bosch and it has the same flow as the bov, with, of course, a much better looks and sound.

We sell that BOV 80$ on the website http://www.blaastperformance.com/index.php?p=bov-stage1

But for HMT users, we can make it 75$ SHIPPED.

Of course, we also have the bosch one that is even cheaper http://www.blaastperformance.com/index.php?p=bov-bosch

Re: BOV?

the best BOV out there period is the 2nd gen Mr2 BOV, it responds the fastest. dual diaphram, responds to changes in manifold pressure, not vacumn itself, i can actually make the bov go off while boosting by playing with the throttle. its fuckign sweet. its pretty loud, you could make it louder by blocking off some of the passage to get a louder sound. The HKS SSQ is a copy of this BOV.

O and did I mention this baby doesn't open at idle?

best bov ever in my opinion.

BLAAST 05-12-2005 02:11 PM

Re: BOV?

YES, the SPRING IS TOO TIGHT.

I always cut a few coils on them prior to install.

However, on MAF equipped cars, that tight spring is the solution to idle problems.

HMTguy 05-12-2005 02:43 PM

Re: BOV?

Dude said he cut a few coils on the spring and it's still too tight?

BLAAST 05-13-2005 10:49 AM

Re: BOV?

quite possible. Cutting the spring is an adjustment. You can cut too much, or too little.
If it'S still too stiff, he has to cut more. after that, The whole cap of the BOV can be screwed in or out for fine tuning anyways. If you cut too much, then you can always add a few washers to make it stiff again.
