Bought this Turbo, Don't think it's a T61...
 

Last week, my search for a turbo took a serious step when I purchased this turbo: Ebay Link.

Upon researching the compressor housing and turbine housing, I've come to the decision this is a T60-1 and not a T61 as advertised. Here are a few detailed pics I based my decision upon:

If any of you can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. Also, does anyone have any information on the difference between the T61 and the T60-1?

Finally, if this turbo is a T60-1, I plan on either re-selling it or trading it for a Holset HX40. Does anyone have any literature on the HX40 including compressor maps and goodies of this sort? I tried contacting Holset, but they claimed their maps were confidential...

only way your going to tell is to remove the compressor housing and measure the wheel.

Not sure sorry, but I'm having trouble finding a reputable (sp?) website to look up higher end turbos. What site did you use?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll take a look this evening when I get off work.

I pretty much spent an hour on Google using various search strings related to the turbo (compressor housing numbers, turbine housing numbers).

I fixed the actual link to the auction listing. I paid $400 for the turbo.

Yea..bad dog indeed. Had terrible separation anxiety until I brought the wife's dog in.

Just use the ------- thing. You have it already so why do you want a holset instead?

Who the ---- cares. He's got it now so ------- use the damn thing. It's a turbo...it shoves mad amounts of air into your engine. Just spit some more gas in and go Einstein on that spark. ---- christ.

You get 58mm because you are not measuring accross the wheel. doing so is difficult since there's 7 blades rather than 8.
THe actual measurement of this wheel is 59.03mm so yes, it's a 60-1,

A t61 has a 60.96 mm inducer and is made only by turbonetics and that'S a garrett housing.

turbine is P trim. it sucks because it's obsolete ON CENTER configuration.

THat's still a nice 600hp turbo. equivalent to a gt3582R. I ran the same on my h22 and wow....
