Boosting a Type R?
 

alright i just got done finishing up my swap. its a jdm b18c "type r" swap in my del sol. it has bolt ons/hondata. now i want more power and will be going for it soon. What kind of turbo kit is good for the type r? I dont wanna build the motor or anything like that, i dont want insane power but it is my daily driver. just want some decent power without blowing up the engine....trying to keep it reliable if possible lol

would a greddy kit be my best choice? will any b series greddy kit fit?

would i be better off just buying a better header, cams and keeping it na, or can this be turbocharged and still be reliable?

pretty much anything for a b16 will fit but they have pretty high compression so take it easy on the boost ;)

yea local made like 325whp on 7psi w/drag kit but he blew his rings out in a week, i cant be that guy, if i have to run low boost i will in order to keep it reliable as possible, its a daily driver and the only car i have so it needs to always be running.......

just looking into which kit would suit my needs and dont wanna overkill on power and damage the powerplant..

how the hell do u blow out rings in a week with 7psi...only thing i could think of is lack of fuel or fucked up timing....?

I don't think many people have had any experiences with turbo kits on this site. Most people like me setup there own turbos. To keep things reliable you just need to make sure your ---- is tuned good.

Try and get a head gasket that will lower the compression to a more boost friendly range. Good fuel management will be needed for reliability.

I would agree with you, but I think most of us have been edumacated enough to know not to buy into them, because most of the stuff that are in the kits are SH!T to begin with.

With the Type R, why dont you just build it all motor? Or if not that just go 75 shot of nitrous?

But if you insist on going turbo, just make sure that sucker is tuned. As StanB said, get a thicker headgasket to drop the compression a tad. Its not the best option but its better than running on the compression that you have on there now.

Any B-series kit will fit for the most part. If you have A/C its going to be a B!TCH. I know because I have a sol with A/C.
