boosting in supercold wheather
 

i've been told that my car can run about 8-9 PSI but what about in the winter time, i mean summer is 80's and winter can be in the teen's somedays, how many PSI should i run less in winter? if any?

i wouldnt change it, but the car will be faster in the cold

Yeah i noticed a pretty big differents fro 60 degrees to 40 at night. Car seemed quicker. Also, it seemed to be running richer for some reason. Less air I guess.

My friends buick GN's power can vary as much as 50hp between cold winter nights and hot summer days. He refuses to even take it to the track at day time.

Every car is faster in the cold, but turbo cars gain the most.

I wouldn't turn the boost up just b/c its a little colder outside...

whoops i meant when it was 60 degrees out it was running much richer. I actually had trouble getting into the higher rpms. (im at35% all the way across so that's why :) )

Yea, when I goto work its like 85*, then when I get off work its like 75* and really humid ( 100% all the time ). And I couldn't even get my car tuned perfect when it was N/A.

Tuned it one the way home from work ( about 2:30am), then I get in it the next morning/evening and it would be running richer, so I'd turn the fuel down. Then on the way home from work that night, it would be running REALLY lean..

Guess we could move to Alaska... 6 months night, 6 months day, and its ALWAYS turbo weither there !!!

You probably could safeley run a few more lbs than normal since your intercooler works so damn well in this cold weather. Your inlet temps are probably rediculously cold driving around in 32* weather. I wonder how good. If the intercooler is real efficient, I wouldn't double 40degree inlet temps. that makes for some good safety from detonation and some real nice power, too ;)

The general rule of thumb is every 10 degrees you reduce inlet temps is a 1% increase in hp, so if you think about it, the difference in power from the hottest days of summer (@ about 100*F) and the coldest days of winter (0*F) could be as much as 10% horsepower. So, figure that your car makes 250hp, just the change in temp accounts for another 25hp. Good stuff!

well i can alreayd tell my car is much faster now that its cold over here in maryland, when i switch from 1st to 2nd the car doesnt regain grip untill about 7700 rpm, so the whole time they are just squealling....sweet.
