boosting a B18C5
i was wondering if anyone has bossted a a stock type R motor and whut results they got i know the compression is a little higher than a GS-R but if use a thicker haed gasket would i be ok i'm debating on a turbo B18C5 or c1 let me know whut u guys think...thanks

Re: boosting a B18C5
boost the c5 balla. i would if i could. matter of fact i'd boost anything just like everyone else here. >:D

Re: boosting a B18C5
cometic headgasket to drop the comp a bit (if you so wish) and a good tune...I've seen people do decent numbers on stock R swaps.

Re: boosting a B18C5
I was just reading this on ti.net about this same thing...
http://www.team-integra.net/forum/di...urnPage=Search I've seen a few setups that did both (dropped compression or left it alone), and what it really comes down to is tuning. It's just easier to tune w/low compression pistons and higher boost. |
Re: boosting a B18C5
---- that
Just pull the motor and sell it for a grip of cash, buy an ls/vtec and boos tthat and piece your turbokit together with the huge ammount of money you just saved |
Re: boosting a B18C5
boost that c5, thats what I run in my eg. >:D

Re: boosting a B18C5

Re: boosting a B18C5

Re: boosting a B18C5
well... you're on this website, that's got to mean something for what you're leaning towards. If you're looking for an unbaised answer, you're on the wrong forum :P

Re: boosting a B18C5
boost the R and do a great tune job!
|
Re: boosting a B18C5
does anyone one know of a goodtuning place in CT or surrounding areas i know of one in NY thats supposed 2 be real good but does anyone know of ay more?
|
Re: boosting a B18C5
Sell the B18c5, use the money to build an LS and boost that. If not, Spend a grip of money on the R motor to be all motor.

Re: boosting a B18C5
WOW, you seem to have money to burn, but you might as well just get an H22 and turbo that, more torque and hp and less money and less hastle, plus u can leave that c5 engine a virgin like it was meant to be, if u want the b18 then just get a b18b and go nuts on that, c5 just doesnt make sense

Re: boosting a B18C5
i have a few ?'s about the R motor if someone can help me with converting it 2 run in an obd1 car i know i need 2 change the distributor but do anyother sensor need 2 be changed??

Re: boosting a B18C5
A complete B18c5 in good condition for $3,000? That's a pretty sweet deal. The B18c1/5 is probably the best all around motor honda ever made, so I would go for it. The stock TypeR head and cams will put down 500+ whp no problem. Personally I would lower the compression since you will probably be on pump gas the majority of the time, this will make it a little safer and you can run more power on pump than you could with higher compression. A B18c1 wouldn't be a bad choice either though, just depends on how much you want to spend.

Re: boosting a B18C5
i just got the R i'm gonna be putting it in 2 morrow

Re: boosting a B18C5
Technically a higher compression engine will make more power at the same boost as an identically set up engine with "turbo friendly" compression. It'll also will spool up the turbo faster. The difference is that with highercompression it's easier to detonate. So that's why you need better tuneing. I'd boost it if I owned a C5. No I woudn't I'd put webers on it.

Re: boosting a B18C5
That article said exactly what I said. Thanks though good read. I'm more of a rotard so hot spots from increased combustion tempratures with higher compression are not an issue since the intake charge moves through the "cumbustion chamber."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZOdhe2_paU Here's a guy I know.. it used to be all motor b18c5, but then he boosted it, the red SI is his cousin.. both cars were built by Inline Pro.. he recently traded the ITR for a 99 R33 GTR, pics below Attachment 33830 http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Picture122.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...g/00000036.jpg |
