Boosting an Alto !!!! plz help!!
Hey people, Im going to be boosting my alto which right now gives 40bhp without my mods!
I have:
1.75" Exhaust Piping with a free flowin muffler
high flow headers
Cold Air Intake
My engine is a 800cc Suzuki F8B engine with the following specs :-
Engine : Suzuki F8B
Capacity (litres) : 0.8/800cc
Max Power : 29.5 Kw @ 6000 RPM
Max Torque : 59 Nm @ 3500 RPM
Compression Ratio : 8.7
It is a carburated engine with 150km/h topspeed and 15secs to 0-100kms ! These are after da above mods!
Now I have the following plan!
Im gonna use the Carby from CB60/61 Charade which fits directly on the F8B Manifold! I can also get the surge tank too from da same engine! Now the thing is that my car has a mechanical fuel pump and I will have to get an electric one for the job! Can anyone advise me as to what to do with the fuel management? will an FMU work with a good electric fuel pump?
And yah, I will be using the IHI RHB-32 turbo which is pretty small and good enuff for 6-8psi!! And I wont be goin more than that! I have a BoV too! SO i just need advice as to what to do !!!

you play! you pay! (what's with the hollarin?)
seriously...if you don't wanna blow it up...don't be boostin it,them lil 3 cylinders have puny lil matchstick rods.
But then..if you do have the *****...and you do have a bigger carb on there, put a a/f ratio meter in there...it's not very precise but it'll give you at least some idea of what goes on in there.
If that's too much...read the plugs frequently and hope for the best...and take lotsa pics

Re: Boosting an Alto !!!! plz help!!
hey, many people have done it! The same engine has been turbocharged in australia and other countries. look at the last line of my post, it is the link to the website who have done it !! (engine code is f8B).
Wat I need to know is like, how should I control the fuel pressure and fuelling as i wanna run it NA most of da time and turbo only when i race!! So, wat I have planned to do is to install a custom valve connected to the surge tank and the fuel pump current controlled by a switch! So, when I dont want to use boost, i Wll open up da valve and let the pressure bleed and I will turn the extra fuel pump off!!
While runnin NA, fuel would be supplied by the mechanical fuel pump and when I wanna race, I will turn the fuel pump on and will CLOSE the valve to get boost! in this way, even when im runnin NA, the turbo would be spinning but there would be no boost and the only downside will be the LAG when NA!!
Please advise me will this work or not!!!
