Default Boosting Accord

Well this kid i know has a Accord 1989 i think it has a A20A3 in it. How hard will this be for me and him to boost? He got it for free and was talking about getting a new one next year, so i thought we could tear it up for a while. I am not sure on the mileage and so one i will have to ask him later on today but does any one think this will be a hard project? He doesn't want to spend too much just the basics i supose. I want to try to see if i can keep it under $500-$800 range if possible cuz' we are poor kids. I just want to gain some experiance with helping this kid out. Any help would be appriacated.

Thanks,
Tom

the A20 is a frigging indestructable engine. great for boost. you might be able to get away with that price range. not much more than that if not. search the site, learn a lot, and good luck

500-800 would be pushing it, you'd need more than that to get it done right

Well I talked to the kid. He was willing to pay more then just $500-800 he was suspecting $500 for only a turbo. Well i know i don't much as of now. I know basics. I am just about to finish reading Maximum Boost (damn good book). But i have like zero hands on experiance. What about the ECU? He has a 1989 Accord LX is that the A20A3 engine? (just double checking) Any other comments at all would be appriaciated.

Thanks,
Tom

i think the hardest part (other then the oil lines that i m scared to death of) the EFI. I would prob. need new infects. and i need to reprogram the ECU. How can i do this with our having to blow $500 away. I am only thinking about going for 5-6psi just to be on the safer side. I doubt we would even be able to hit 15's with that. But what the hey.

Thanks,
Tom

Sean is your guy if you want to do that accord on a budget. There have only been a handfull of people to turbo that engine but its great becaust the block is cast iron. I bailed on my A20A3 project and decided to turbo my JDM Accord B20A which is coming out awesome but in no sense within any budget.

Don't be scared of the oil lines, just make sure they don't LEAK!!! Oh, and if you want to do a decent cheap turbo setup, just use a Vortech 12:1 FMU for fuel management, it should be fine for 5-9 PSI and you can find them for like $50-$65 used anywhere.

Yah, Sean is the guru for our 3rd generation ('86-'89) Accords when it comes to turbocharging. Go visit www.3geez.asmallorange.com and look around there as well.
