Default Boosted Probe 2.0

Hey gents, new guy checking in with some questions After searching.

I am not a noob to Boost, I drive a boosted suby wagon(old school) and was toying with the idea of boosting my probe as the suby is pretty limited on power due to the engine design. I have been a member of H-T for a few years and a lot of offroading sites. I use the same screen name on all of them so feel free to drop me an IM if you see me anywhere else.

Basically I have a 95 probe se modle with the 2.0. It has about 160k on the clock and will need the head rebuilt soon. The compression is good so I think the bottom end and pistons are still up to the task.

I have read to get the later modle manifold off another car because it is shorter and thus the tubo placement is more suted to the car, but will the stock header work? I have a welder, and can get the flanges I need for my turbo.

As far as the tubo goes, I have plenty of access to get the stock turbo off another old suby. It is an IHI RHB5 VF7 internal wastegated and puts down 7 psi stock. It is a small turbo, so I think it will fit nicely and I am already familar with them.

My suby is not intercooled, but my question is, is with the probe having a higher compression ratio, but only running 7 psi should I intercool it? I know this would help keep the detonation down regardless, but should it be essential?

One last thing, only running 7 psi will the stock injectors hold up, or should I go ahead and search for the milinia s injectors (440 cfm vs 180cfm stock). I think that may be overkill, and I would have to get an aftermarket FPR and fuel pump.

Thanks for any help.

First off go to the sticky about the basics of homemaking ur turbo kit!! there u will find a link to weirracing and he has the exsaust flange so u can mke ur "custom log manifold"..lol as far as intercooler..just get one it just looks bad *** and its a little of insurance as well to keep detonation away..ur stock injectors and pump should be good up to 10 psi just get and FMU if ur car uses a return line back to ur fueltank from the fuel rail.........my 2 cents..good luck

I have a 97 Ford Probe 2.0 that I have turbo charged three different times now. Its possible, and now I'm using a Megasquirt system to control fuel, spark, fans, launch control, rev limiter. Some other things too, but I forget.
