boosted b18b project

Hey guys,

Planning on doing a budget boost project on my integra, just for giggles. For these reasons I've decided to do a eBay setup. Does anybody have experience with one specific kit? And please don't say they're all bad, because i know some people have success with some kits. Just wondering which ones to stay away from is all.

Thanks for the help!

Also, does anybody know what happend to Scott-EP from here? I was looking at purchasing one of his kits but it doesn't look like he's been around for a while. Also, this is the kit i'm looking on getting http://cgi.ebay.ca/B-SERIES-T3-T4-TU...item4cf0f5bc6a

I have heard those kits are a hit and miss, but it could be people who blew up their car becasue they didnt get a tune or it could be faulty parts. I have no experiece.

Thanks, anybody else have anymore insight?

ive been using these kits for years now. built 3 turbo motorcycles and 2 turbo cars with them and never had a failure with any of the parts. my current vehicle is using the gt35 turbo and 3000 miles and 6 months later no issues. if you buy it just make sure you thoroughly inspect all the parts especially the turbo to make sure its not binding.

If you are goin to use a Ebay kit go with CX-racing. Everything of theirs I have dealt with has been top notch for what it is.

maleek 04-24-2011 06:44 PM

Do you know if they make ac and ps friendly kits?

WORPeclipse 04-25-2011 09:18 PM

yeah my buddies kit from them was both ac and ps compatible. Not as easy to do but he could have.

Just posting up an update:
Ordered the CxRacing turbo kit, Will be shipped tomorrow (Monday). Once i receive the kit i will post pictures etc. Hopefully the turbo doesn't blow first start up. I still have to buy a wideband, ecu with jumper harness, and a fuel pump.

Going over the ad, and I think i need to learn to read...
I've purchased this kit :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/B-SER...mZ170624644345

And just noticed that it says that the kit is for EK with B series engine. Now, I've purchased this for my Integra, will i have problems with the down pipe, and charge pipping, and manifold fitment?

rastaintegra 06-13-2011 12:08 PM

U shouldn't have any problems because the engine bay is around the same size.

This is true, but I'm trying to find out if i will have to modify the downpipe / charge piping. I found out the manifold should fit

rastaintegra 06-14-2011 09:33 AM

what year is your integra. Because if it is a 95 and up you shouldn't have any problems with down pipe and charge pipes.

maleek 06-14-2011 11:42 AM

its a '97

maleek 06-19-2011 10:35 PM

anyone here every try a ebay obd2a-obd1 conversion harness?

maleek 06-29-2011 09:21 PM

Does anybody know WHICH gm map sensor i can use for my project?

WORPeclipse 06-30-2011 12:32 AM

How much boost are you goin to run? The amount of boost depends on what map to run.

I bought one from a ebay company that is also a web order company that has a out side website. They stand behind it. I ordered mine. Hooked it up and it was bad. They send me a new one the same day with no questions asked.

maleek 06-30-2011 12:42 AM

for now, probably somewhere around 15psi. I was just going to buy a 3bar map sensor right from the get go because i don't want to be bothered by having to buy another if i decide on running more boost than the sensor is able to handle.

can i take any 2, or 3 bar map sensor and wire it up to work? I'm really hoping to be able to score one out of the junkyard if possible. I know people run the motorola, omni, aem etc etc, but can it be out of like a toyota or something that has a 2 or 3 bar map sensor????? thanks guys.

busa4 06-30-2011 08:56 AM

2.5 bar map sensor will give you a max boost reference of 22 psi. 3 bar map sensor will give you a max boost pressure of 30 psi. check ebay. the gm map sensors are all over the place for 50-60 new. why risk pulling a shitty used one from the junk yard. there certain things you do not want to go used. your engines life depends on that sensor.

maleek 06-30-2011 11:01 AM

Ok, I will buy a new one. But my question still stands.

Can it be from like a Toyota Mr2 or something, does it HAVE to be a gm sensor?? I know some of the gm trucks have map sensors, could i go to the parts store and order a map from like a 3.8 v6, or does it specifically have to be from a 89 trans am?!

rastaintegra 06-30-2011 11:23 AM

I don't know about the mr2, but I say get the gm sensor that is at lease an obd1. I say get off of a 95 camaro with the 3.8

it could be from any vehicle as long as it reads boost. you will need to take the connector for the sensor as well and hard wire it in. the gm 2.5 bar sensors are a better bet because they come with the connector, are a lot cheaper to replace and a readily available.

no. ordering a map sensor from any gm vehicle will not do. you need a 2.5 bar map sensor and only a specific amount a factory gm vehicles were turbo/supercharged. you need to look for gm vehicles that were turbod/supercharged from the factory like cobalt ss, ion redline, saturn sky, durmax turbo diesel engines, etc. in some cases you may have to modify there mounting positions on your specific vehicle to make them work so its not really worth it. buy a new gm 2.5 bar map sensor on ebay or on the gm performance site and call it a day.

thanks alot dude! i appreciate it! pictures to come.

quick questions: my turbo came with a bit of shaft play (side to side) but it does not move in and out at ALL. should i bother having it balanced??

busa4 07-06-2011 11:19 AM

all journal bearing turbos will have some shaft play. this will go away with oil pressure. there should be no front to back play. its always a good idea to rebuild a used turbo reguardless of its condition.

maleek 07-06-2011 05:13 PM

This is a new ebay turbo, not a used one. Just wondering If I should have it balanced or not

busa4 07-07-2011 02:59 PM

even new journal bearing turbos will have shaft play. if its an ebay turbo have it rebuilt with quality parts. any turbo rebuild shop can rebuild it and balance it.

maleek 07-18-2011 04:18 PM
