boost, shift, smoke, bah!

ok, so the other day im on the freeway on my way to work, brother goes in the same direction. he calls me and tells me that the car is smoking, he said it wasnt a lot but that it was constant and that is was white. i cant really see it, by looking at the mirrors. today, i kept looking back, went into boost, and when i shifted to 4th, i did see some smoke, couldnt really tell what color it was, but it didnt seem white, grey-ish maybe, but then what is it, bc

white smoke = coolant
blue smoke = oil
black smoke = gas

right?

i think i mightbe running rich. its a 94 ls, 440s, -3an oil feed, -10an oil return, t3 .57/.48, 2.5 exhaust no cat, tuned on crome by whitfield racing. it sounds normal at least to me, it still pulls, but apparantly its smoking. i need to get someone to drive this by me so i can be sure, ill get back to this, what do you guys think?

edit: oh yeah, no smoking at idle, so im good here :8 *knocks on wood*

does it get hot at all? and if its white smoke when you hit boost you could be on the verge of a headgasket problem.. if you were a little rich you would puff black smoke

I'm getting smoke too and it's white, grayish. I can notice it sometimes on idle during warm up most. I just received a oil restrictor from stealth. I think that'll solve the problem. I'm going to open up the oil restrictor just slightly to send less oil presure to the turbo seals, yep that'll do the trick.

Look at your plugs

Do a compresion check if you're so concerned about the head gasket.

compression test wont always find it.. DO A LEAKDOWN or pressure test the cooling system that would be your best.. then again your problem may not be at idle only in boost and your head is lifting under pressure..

You said black smoke didn't you? In between shifts, black smoke isn't bad. If you're in it and it's white smoke and your oil (when you check it) is 'milky' in color then you have HG issues....
