If you have a 7 PSI waistgate and you want to run 7 PSI why do you have a boost controller?
Try taking the boost controller out and see what happens. I bet you are getting boost spike from the controller and it's making it detonate as well as overboost.

Another idea, put a vacuum pump on your waistgate and make sure it's acually opening at 7 PSI...

ya get rid of you boost controler and try a difrent vacume source you might have a presure raise cuz of your inter cooler and ----
you might have 7 psi at the first pice of charge pipe and 8-9 psi near your throtel body or intake manifold thats how my 8 psi waste gate is giving me 9-10 psi in my throtel body and rejustering a little over 9 psi on my boost guage

I had the same problem at one time, changed mbc, regapped my plugs down to .30. No popping and solid stead 10 psi now.
