Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

I have a DA with and ITR swap with a b16 cable tranny (4.40 FD), i recently got the homemade turbo kit put together and tuned to a safe but close tune with CHROME to 10 psi...
My problem from a boost leak was that the boost was falling off in higher RPMs, it would spike to 10 psi, then fall back to 6 or 5 and try to hold there....
I pressure tested the piping and found a small hole around the BOV and fixed it. After the fix there were NO leaks in the piping whatsoever...now i only get 7 psi and thats only in higher gears like 4th or 5th, the higher the rpms the more the boost drops, it falls right back to around 5...
1st 2nd and 3rd gear the boost gets a little higher but nothing above 5 psi, which i kind of understand cause there's more load in higher gears...
I've eleminated the BOV cause i tried a different one...nothing
I've eliminated the Wastegate, we completely disconnected vacuum from it and the car ran worse...
I have a boost controller hooked up...still falls off
I'm just stumper now and need more ideas...any help would be nice...

Kalam, I have even more respect for you now. Your almost as cool as I am. ;)

Getting 2 of em in bed isnt that hard. Three is difficult, but do-able.
It turns bad when your girlfriend finds out that the other girl is an ex, then ---- goes down hill. But hopefully you already got some by then.

BTW ching chong meow turbos FTL... Hurry and get that thing fixed, we got some kmotors to smash!

---- yes.
also, sounds like the turbo is plain ----, probably going to start bouncing off the housing walls soon if it is not already.

Good.

I was recently informed that the group of corvette owners told harry that they refused to race my integra for whatever reason.

You should also know that the engine/trans is in my crx. Have a nice day!

Nope. Got a clean little d16a6 slapped in there with a super econo 4-speed tranny (temp) and I guess im gonna build another log...not sure just yet. Should be interesting.

The wifey has expressed her interest in the dc, far be it from me to prevent her from expanding her knowledge in the automotive world....so im just gonna give it to her. Ie ill probably need a beater soon....

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

boost problem solved....t3 does great, now onto the fuel...after a nice tune last night and got it running good at about 7 psi... me and wes checked the fuel pressure and it was 6 psi too low... >:( thought i had it right before but i was wrong.....so now onto a new tune.....

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

With the vacuum line to the FPR disconnected. That'll do it everytime.

41 psi base - 6 psi = 35 psi.

35 psi - 7 psi boost pressure = 28 psi while boosting.

28/41 psi - 68% of the fuel flow you should have.

68% X the 300 whp your stock pump should be able to push = 204 whp before you run out of fuel pump.

Sounds like you're making at or a bit over 200 whp at 7 psi if you are leaning uncontrollably to 12.5:1 AFRs. In truth, the fuel pump's flow chart doesn't manifest quite like that, what it flows varies with the PR it is operated at, but I guarantee it's within 10-15 whp of 204 whp.

I think I have a Motorola 2.5 bar MAP sensor laying around when you want to shoot for a safe 275-280 whp and occupy Robert's place on the foodchain while he's building his CRX.

Lol the high milage LS in the teg is starting to get smokey smokey, and zekeyboy has a new Turbo back exhaust, hoe noes!!!!

Tom-Guy 09-19-2007 12:36 PM

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

Zekey-boi has a stock turbo, so he isn't getting more than a 5 whp gain off of cranking the boost + tuning, so that's - what? - at most 230 whp that he could squeeze out of his 3000 lb pile of ----, not that he'll ever see more than 200 whp? Slow as death.

Further, that cockmongrel will never materialise in Asheville ever again as my phone would be ringing off the hook + I'd appear within 15 minutes to beat the brakes off of him.

What does this mean? I need some lame man's terms. I think im having fuel pressure issues myself.

Tom-Guy 09-20-2007 01:20 AM

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

No, you're having 14/88 issues aka you're too inbred to comprehend anything I say. Fist yourself, Nazi.

talonator1488 09-20-2007 10:23 AM

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

Ok, but your saying the boost pressure to the fpr decreses fuel pressure 1:1 or increses it? Im just trying to understand what you were saying.

Tom-Guy 09-20-2007 10:30 AM

Re: Boost problem. Engine won't hold boost.

Then reread it more thoroughly and THINK about it, or pay attention to a fuel pressure gauge as you molest the pressure and plug and unplug the referrence hose, or play around with RC's fuel injector calculator. I understand these things are hard to hold inside a head full of Hitler, but until you simply man up and DO it there is no way basic understanding can be handed to you.
