Boost Gauge Problem
 

Alright guys I need to figure out something that may be simple or not. I have a t3 turbo setup on my D16 and installed a AC autotechnic S7 boost gauge in my car today. When i get on the gas and get into hig rpm's i see no movement on the gauge past 0 psi, but i do still hear the woosh in the blow off valve, so i guess that means there is boost. I hope that it was just a crappy install and not my turbo no working right. As far as an install i used clear tubing from home depot and plugged it directly into the back of the gauge and clamped it down on nipple off the gauge. Maybe the vac. line is too weak or too big. I used a 3/8 vac.ine and connected that end to a reducer and down to a smaller line and connected the line directly to the port in the intake manifold where the fuel pressure regulator vac. line is connected to. I do have boost leak where the WG sits on the manifold, or should i say that the WG has no gasket there. What do yall think?

I should've stopped reading after that line but.. first thing 's first, make sure there is no vacumm leak on the line you're running from the manifold to the boost gauge. I'm thinking the likely problem is a faulty gauge. If it's a mechanical gauge, just pop the hood and hook it up to the manny with a short vac line and give it a couple of revs, if the needle dosen't move at all and the bov is opening then thee is definately something wrong with that gauge.

Are you revving on the spot or actually putting load on the engine eg, driving up the street. Its very rare that you will see any boost on the spot but the BOV will still work on the spot

I am driving on the interstate and i can hear the blow off valve, Could it be the size of the line to the boost gauge, i know that the line that comes with the gauge kinda fit into the hole of the nipple and a fitting screws on back go hold it in place

what does the gauge show when you are idling? it should show around ~20 vac or so.... if your car shows that when idling, and goes up to zero when you are boosting, you might have a minor leak - obviously the leak exacerbates when there is pressure in the line. if your gauge stays at zero the entire time, then your gauge is broken.

if your gauge shows a value other than ~20 when idling, and moves up to zero under boost, you might need a calibration (broken gauge).

if there is a leak on the boost gauge side of the line, you'd hear it in the car.... you would hear a loud whoosh under boost, then back to a sucking sound under idle. so if you have a leak and don't hear anything, its probably on the FPR side.

The size of the hoze dosent matter.
Disconect the gauge and listen to the noise.
Also try a diffirent point to connect your boost gauge.
Also try blowing and sucking on the gauge. You should see 4 to 10 psi.
