Boost gauge only reading vacumm
Finished setup today and my boost gauge reads about 13 for vacumm and does not go into the boost side. When I hit the gas it goes from the 12 vacumm to the 0 right between boost and vacumm. It is hooked from a line in that comes off the manifold. What is wrong? I thought it was supposed to be around 0 then puch up on boost. It is a t25 on a d16. Please help someone I want to know how much boost I am running before I drive the car around.
Thanks |
Re:Boost gauge only reading vacumm
I have never reved my car @ idle since I have been boosted but I would drive it if I were you and see if it boost up. Dont get on it hard you know. I think it is kinda hard to get into boost at idle..Not sure though. It wont hurt to drive it out in front of you house, just dont lay into it.

Re:Boost gauge only reading vacumm
if you rev your car in neutral it wont have enough time to boost above zero aka atmospheric pressure aka zero boost aka shaniqua befor redline. simple: turbo lag on t25 although small is longer than the time it takes to redline your engina.

turbos just dont boost without load on the engine...

Re:Boost gauge only reading vacumm
12 for the vac is kinda low though. Which line do you have it hooked up to?? Mine reads around 18 vac (and 10 boost ;D)hehe

Re:Boost gauge only reading vacumm
Actually, I've seen a DSM hit 13psi at idle (just reving) I couldnt ------- belive it. But ya, normally the turbo wont spool without a load on the engine.
