Boost gauge issues
Here's the deal....i was putting my Autometer boost gauge in my GSR yesterday afternoon and as i did, one of the long screws on the back pushed into the inside of the gauge and knocked the little plastic piece off. The plastic piece connects the outer coil of metal to the piece that reads the pressure. My question is.....
Can i cut the very back off the gauge or cut a bigger hole in it in order to put this little piece back on, or do boost gauges need to be sealed and pressurized in order to work properly?? If i cut it, it will be just a slightly bigger hole so that i can get a pliers in to drop that piece in place......What can i do??? |
Re: Boost gauge issues
id say go for it if it doesnt work. As far as i know the pressure is internal. give it a shot and hit us up with how it went.

Re: Boost gauge issues
I'll tell ya right now the autometer boost gauges are junk. I have one hooked up in my hatch, and when my vafc reads off the map sensor and tells me i'm at 12psi, the boost guage says i'm making around 16psi.

Re: Boost gauge issues
good luck getting the little pin back in lol... its next to impossible we tried it before u can get it back in but if u bend the arms in the slightest it will be WAY outta wack afterword and never work right.

Re: Boost gauge issues
well i'm going to try......i'm not really going to care what it reads as long as it reads consistantly....i'm just using the gauge so that i don't have boost spiking and boost leaks.....
