Default Boost Gauge Broken?

Ok first off, I no longer have a turbo since I hydrolocked my D series and swapped a B18. The gauge however is for possible cough, cough, future use. Now, the problem I'm having and correct me if I'm wrong on this:

First off , it's an Autometer boost gauge, the one that reads vacuum and 20lbs boost.

It reads anywhere from 3-5 vacuum at full throttle, shouldn't it read zero on N/A use?

Also, when I shut the car off the gauge reads 10 vacuum, but if I remember correctly
should read somewhere around 7 (something about static atmospheric pressure
causes this to happen and can vary depending opon altitude)

Everything else about the gauge works fine, no jumping or erratic readings.

My moron assessment is that the gauge is fine but the needle has somehow
indexed itself to read roughly 3-4 increments low. If anyone can provide a more
intelligent diagnosis I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks.

shitcan that gauge. Running around with suspect gauges is worse than having no gauge at all.

Thanks. btw, I remember coming out to my car one morning after a 24 hour downpour and seeing a shitload of condensation in the gauge, so it has to be shot. I could try taking it apart to see if there's water in the line to salvage it. I'd rather fix it, or at least see how it works, than smash it, even though most Autometer products are better off being smashed than counted on for their accuracy.
