boost creep?? how common?
hey i'm gonna build a d16a6 with a 14b sometime in the near future and i was wondering if i stayed with the internal wastegate would boost creep be present??? I'll be running a 2.5" exhaust. what are the chances of me doing like a 3rd gear pull and boost spiking up to like 15 psi at 5000 rpm??? i only wanna run about 7-8 on street and 10 on track.

Re:boost creep?? how common?
just keep a close eye on the boost gauge ;)

Re:boost creep?? how common?
so i'm guessing at that low of a boost setting that it's not likely to happen but could?

Re:boost creep?? how common?
i dont think you have anything to worry about, try it, if it creeps, port the wastegate

Re:boost creep?? how common?
what exactly is it that causes boost creep??
|
Re:boost creep?? how common?
Not that common. And if it does happen, in most instances it's 2-3psi increase. sometimes it can get pretty dramatic.
I dont see any boost creep in the upper RPM on my turbo D16z6 at all. |
Re:boost creep?? how common?
caused by the wastegate not being able to flow enough exhaust to keep the boost down
|
Re:boost creep?? how common?
say i didnt want to use my internal wastegate, can i just weld if shut and use an external??
|
Re:boost creep?? how common?
yea, or if its a t3 you could just make you dp with a blockoff flange
|
Re:boost creep?? how common?
Your more likely to boost creep if you try to boost too low. Creep = too small of a wastegate. I've never had a problem with it.
