Default Boost controllers, TURBO EXPERTS REQUIRED!!!

hey, i understand the basics of a boost controller, i am about to purchase a manual boost controller

i have a external HKS style wastegate, its got a 10psi spring in it... with a controller i know i can raise the boost but can i drop it below 10psi or would i need 6psi spring to do that??

i wanna run it at 6psi daily, then raise it to 10-12 when i wanna go a run...
just to make it last longer before it goes bang

yea you can only turn UP the boost with a MBC, WG spring will limit the mininum you will be running.

boost creep is when the boost overshoots your desired setting. That happens when a wastegate is too small or too restrictively plumbed. I doubt it's your case with your 40mm wg.

if you want to lower boost a tad, just cut 1-2 loops from the spring and you can raise it back to 10 psi again with your MBC.

Make sure to mount your MBC using the shortest possible hoses.

man what i good idea cutting springs :P
heheh cheers, ive got a 45mm "HKS" rip off wastegate soo yeah should be big enough

just one more question, where do you run the vaccume lines for the MBC, i read somewhere that you run 1 off the wastegate and one off the pipe after boost??

im trying to understand how they work, i think i got it sussed, they push boost into the valve area, making it harder for the valve to open?? or something similar,

you feed boost to the side port of the wastegate and you add SOME boost to the top port using the MBC. exactly AS you said, the boost you add to the top port prevents the opening of the wastegate, making the boost increase.

Man if your car is correctly tuned for 10 psi safely, I don'T see why in hell you would want to reduce it at 6 psi daily!!
