Boost controller Or Spring
Which is better? Using a manual boost controller to help with the wastegate or just using a spring instead of the
wastegate? Nick |
Re:Boost controller Or Spring
Boost controller I would say. Jeff would have more experience, but I would say use a boost controller. Are you trying to lower your boost? A boost controller can only raise it.

Re:Boost controller Or Spring
I'm trying to get boost faster.

Re:Boost controller Or Spring
a spring will slow down spool time a lot
|
Re:Boost controller Or Spring
Ok i'm confused. What is good about using a spring them?

Re:Boost controller Or Spring
using a spring as an actuator has no advantages...just temporary until you get a real actuator at the psi you want
|
Re:Boost controller Or Spring
Springs do spool faster, its proven, we have tested a DSM wastegate actuator vs spring, and had about a 1000rpm sooner spool time. But springs can be a bitch to adjust, and will vary under types of loads. I only recommend the spring job unless you dont want to boost as high as your wastegate is set, or your wastegate is having clearence issues with your engine/cross member etc.

Re:Boost controller Or Spring
i guess my spring setup just blew ass then....must have been too loose since it slowed spoolup a little
|
Re:Boost controller Or Spring
Like I said.. that was just with the DSM wastegate.... other setups proved to work just fine either way. I really hate dsm wastegates..
:P |
Re:Boost controller Or Spring
So its not better than my greddy wastegate? Just dsm wastegates? I'm getting full boost around 3500, but I want to lower it. I guess I should go with a boost controller right?
