Boost controller junk?

Okay so I bought this turbonetics off ebay, the auction said it was used and 100% working condition. I get it and it doesnt really look like a turbonetics, and secondly the thing looks brand new, still has all the molding oil ---- on it. and then i noticed the seller has like 10 other auctions sell the same used boost controller. So Im kinda thinking hes a scam bag selling ching chong boost controlers.

Hers whats going on.

triple checked everything to make sure it was hooked up right, and it is. Ran my vacuum source from the intake manifold, which is the same place I am running my waste gate reference. It does not have any bleeds, valves, or other interfering devices.

On the very lowest setting, the wastegate does not open. I boost creeped 20+lbs the first test drive out on the very LOWEST setting. I tried turning the knob a turn, to see if something would change, and it creeped 20lbs again. Hooked up the source to the turbo nipplie, did the same thing. Hitting fuel cut, and 20lbs TWICE is enough for me.

I disabled the controller and ran the waste gate reference back to the same place, and I'm getting the factory 6lbs again.

Any Ideas? or is the boost controller a piece of ----.

internal wg? Which way is "lower" on the controller, i think i remember seeing an ebay one that was labeled wrong. Can you blow through it a lot or a little with it all the way to the lowest setting?

You were right on the ------- money dude. The piece of ---- is labeled wrong. Oh the highest setting acording to the knob you cant blow through it with the the wastegate line plugged. With it on the lowest setting you can blow through, it has full bleed. Went out for a test drive and it works properly now.

------- CHING CHONG PIECE OF ----.

Oh, and I owe you a beer.

well i guess it all depends on how you have it hooked up...if it is inline (sounds like you have it tee'd in as a bleeder valve), then i think its labeled right

Yeah I have it inline. I just read that the turbonetics can only be used on dual port actuators and not as a bleeder on a internal wastegate. Something I did not see before. All my other turbo ---- has had external wastegates, so this internal stuff is new to me.

Okay so its not labeled wrong. Can it still be used on my application? Or should I send it back and get a grainger valve.

Or in other words. Can I make it work pretty good by starting at the highest setting, and working my way backwords until I get the desired boost level.

Yes?

It restricts airflow, why would it matter?
