Boost controller

Are all manual boost controllers about the same. I was looking on ebay and I see they goes as low as like $10-$15. Do they all work the same or do I need spend the extra money and get a good one. I am running a internal wasetgate right now set to about 4 pounds and I want to be able to turn it up to about 8. I don't need anything fancy, I just don't want to buy anything cheap that is going to spike on me. Any suggestions would be great.

Get the TurboXS one,

I tried the cheapo one and it's like letting a retarded kid select your boost setting.

I have tried 2 cheap ebay ones. Both the same constructed. Buy ball/spring type for sure. I had TurboXS SBC, bleed type as well. Horrible (+3-4psi) boost spikes with SBC (due to bleed type controller), but no spikes with 7 USD ball/spring.

I heard a rumor that boost controllers are not even accurate under 10 pounds. Is this true? Can somebody shoot me a link or brand because there is so many types out there that I am clueless. thanks

You can hold whatever pressure. Accuracy depends on MBC.
I really suggest ball/spring type.

---- spending more money. If you have an adjustable wastegate arm (with threads) you can just use that. If you don't have one, I'd get one. Then you can get the desired boost out of the original system instead of running vac lines into cheap valves that you shouldn't trust if you don't have to.

It's kinda like buying a hat because you have shaggy hair, when what you should do is get a haircut. 8)

The one I used was an ebay rip off of the Turbosmart one. It was pretty accurate it worked really well actually best $25 I ever spent. http://www.turbosmart.com.au/index.php?id=43 I have the in-cabin one. It's a bleed off type. Eventually I'll get a good one but I really don't see a point since I'm carb'd there's no need for all the extra bells and wistles. Stealth mode has a really good point too, but who makes the best MBC?

I have the Forge MBC. I love it. Doesn't the TurboXS one require a wrench to adjust? Mine just has a huge knob on the top, so no tools necessary. Also it has little clicking intervals, so you can eventually find out like '3 clicks equals 1psi', so if you drop in some race gas, and you want to turn it up 5 pounds, you know it's 15 clicks there, and then 15 clicks and you're back to your old setting. It's cost was about the same as TurboXS's cheapest mbc if I remember right.
