why dont you just boost what you have and put your money into a nice turbo settup?
asking about motor swaps on this site is gheyness.
your not going to make any significant gains for the money being spend.
a b18b can lay down around 300 whp with a good tune.

Man just shut up already ::)
As for some actual help, the b18 will have a slightly better more boost friendly c/r ratio compared to the b17. B17's all in all aren't bad motors either, and the c/r on them isn't as high as b16's for that matter, sitting somewhere around a high 9ish. Parts on the other hand are more expensive as far as internals go.

Well, considering you don't see many questions regarding b17's, I figured I'd help him out. You don't really see too much info on them any more, considering there was only 2 years of production for that motor and they're getting harder and harder to come by. Awesome motor btw, taking a b16 block and stroking it to 1.7 for a little extra torque on the bottom end with b16-like high rpm capability.

good motor more reliable than the b16 in my appinion but it only has 160hp just like the b16 :S my brother has one with xsi head and cams really woke it up alot. the cams are the weak link

Well, the X-si head is just a normal b16 head with lower profile cams. The b17 gsr actually has a pretty steep cam profile to it...not far off from ITR sets when I measured them a few years ago. Only thing was the b17 has a slightly smaller lobe on the primary, probably for best idling and fuel economy on the stroked out 1.6 block. Seconday (vtec) lobe was actually a hair taller than the ITR cam, but with less duration. Either that or the guy who brought the ITR cams to us really had gsr cams in hand and I measured against them. Either way it was a decent profile.

xsi cams > gsr or b16 hand down, measured and re measured with a micro meter

Do you have the numbers on them? I'd be interested in comparing them to my friend's b17 cams just to see. My b16a was from an Integra X-Si, but from what I've measured so far his cams are larger, although I did start to pick up an extra couple by adjusting the cam gears and static timing at the same time.
