boost on 4G63

my friend has a 99 eclipse GST and everthing is completly stock as far as the engine goes, he does have a greddy cat back exhast a new upper intercooler pipe which is less restrictive than the stock and a 1st gen BOV so it wont leak, he also installed a boost gauge and it shows he is already boosting at 15 PSI and it stays there its not like it spikes or anything, my question is...how much more boost can he run with everything stock, everyone at the dsm forums say not to go past 15, but its already at 15 and its hard to beleive that mitsubishi didnt give any kind of saftey margin?

Re:boost on 4G63

the reason for not going past 15psi on a stock turbo, is because its a T25. its a little turbo, and much past 15 psi is out of its efficiency range. replacing the T25 with something larger would let you boost highter, but then you need a way to add more fuel to the mix. without any kind of fuel management, i dont know what the limit is. the DSM'rs have more experience than i do, i would listen to em

Re:boost on 4G63

well i kow the turbo can go past 15 PSI or there woudnt be neccesary to have a wastegate, and the dsm guys dont know ----, its just sounds like to me that they are just now sure, i would have thought that someone with a dsm has tried to see high high they can go, but maybe not, Does anyone out there have experiance about these..these.. atrositys??

so your friends GST boosts up til 15psi then sticks right there, doesn't move a bit until he lets off the gas?

A buddy of mine ran his at 19psi.. it would drop back down to around 16 by redline. His setup was stock and he had the afc trimmed back. You might run into fuel cut though so watch out.

get a BIGGER turbo and then tell how much you can boost without blowing holes in your block ;D

tell him to call frank at forced perfomance.com..

have him send him a green boost to like i dunno..
hows 19 sound fellas???

that thing will blow to shreds

he has 15psi on the t25 but i bet the turbo efficency starts dying at 5G rpms in 4th and 5th...

a clipped t25 is great. thats kinda like what the FP GREEN is..

tell him to run 17....thats the max for an efficient t25 from mine and my friends experience...beyone that it makes no difference really
