Default Bonehead of the year award goes to......

ME!!!! I finally got a timing light to set my timing tonight. Before I just kinda retarded the timing a few milimeters from my original mark. When I say original mark I say where timing was set on the head and distributor when I got it. I still was gettin detonation in high RPM at full throttle. So I only drove it 1 day last week and today to work and tonight to set timing. Wanna know what timing I was running? 21 degrees before TDC!!!!?!!? I got it at 13 degrees now but I have spark knock at top end. I was gonna try some higher octane(running 93) 100 for $5 a gallon, but I think I'll just buy my inline resistors and put in my 450s and ditch the FMU. Damn I'm lucky and I'll never run a car without checking the timing on the engine I install first. I was thinking it would be near stock since it was in an automatic with 50k non raced. I drove it for a year at probably 22-24 degrees timing!!!
