Man, you have a whole lot of patience bro... I do bodywork and paint myself too, but I would never, ever in my life think about taking everything in the engine bay apart, painting it, then putting it all back in.

---- looks badass!

for those asking, I got the same panels off of ebay for my eg hatch, and i'm pretty sure there is ef ones too. Just search for it. I'm going to be doing the same thing soon, but i'll be using that whole replacement panel and more. ------- salt. and my paint job won't be half as nice, but i'm just repainting it red again so I won't have to worry about door jambs and engine bay :8

Re: bodywork and turbo

I used that 18g and manifold set up myself for about 6 months until my engine died and my turbo was filling my chargepipes with oil Few words of advice...

-Keep a flashlight in your car because if you ever take your dipstick out at night, you'll never get it back in
-Use a restrictor on your oil feed line
-If you haven't already, you should make a bigger diameter downpipe to replace the one from the kit
-I had some boost creep issues with my stock internal wastegate, but i bought mine used and who knows what happened to it... my wastegate arm would also sieze up sometimes and I would crazy boost spike, and to fix it i'd beat on it with a ratchet and spray it with pb blaster :8

Overall i was pretty satisfied with the turbo.. pretty fast spool and held power well. I also ported out the manifold a bit-- it has some harsh edges and lumps in the casting.. dunno if it did much but it made me feel better.

just wanted to say thumbs up on some great work. I'm really lovin that paint colour also.

I was always curious, when people decide to repaint their car a different colour, how do you go about doing that in the engine bay or tire well? b/c it seems like one hell of a job. do you actually empty out the entire engine compartment. the tire well isnt big deal b/c it isnt visible but I dont think I could have my entire car one colour, and the engine compartment another colour... unless they're really close.
