Blue Smoke (searched 7 pages, no answers)

Hi Folks,

Quick question here followed after the details:
90 integra LS/Vtec 9:1 comp
Forged rods, srp pistons
type r cams
Garrett t3 super 60 turbo
Tial 38mm wastegate
greddy type s blow off
catchcan installed
etc etc. I could go on but I think that should be sufficient.

Engine is freshly rebuilt (head and bottom end) with 5K on it. Turbo is freshly rebuilt as well. Part tune for 4psi on chrome. When I upgrade to the walbro I'll go for 14psi and fun.

Question: I noticed on startup (car sat for 9hrs since it was running) a puff of blue smoke. Only happened once. Have started it many times since then, driven at 130kph for an extended period of time. Decel, accel, various speeds etc. No sign of blue, no smell of oil etc. Was this a random thing or do turbo cars puff blue on startup from time to time?

Searched threads all spoke of lots of blue all the time, on decel, etc. Nothing about a one puff.
Help?
-Rik

could be alot of things...

but if its not a persistent problem, then who cares.

ps - that turbo is way too tiny for a forged ls/vtec.

startup is usually worn valve stem seals &/or guides

Work after 5k though?

It is small but while maintaining full sized rad, power steering, cruise control, and ABS....there was little room for anything else hahah

a t3 super60 usually still has a .48AR exhaust housing, that motor needs a .63AR stage3 exhaust housing and a nice .60AR t4 compressor. AT LEAST.

if you just did head work you need to realize the the seals may be moving around a little bit. Heating, expanding, contracting, cooling, so maybe a little oil slipped past them while you let it sit. If it only happened once i wouldn't be worried at all.
