Default Blown Turbo?

Hows it going. I was running a Mitsubishi 20g turbo (5lbs of PSI) on my ZC swaped 89 civic hatch. It was running good for a a few months. Then a few days ago I was driving my car started smoking REALLY bad so I pulled over and checked everything and then I saw a KINK in the oil return line. So I decided to drive back home since I was 5 minutes from my house. Then I took off my intercooler and pipings only to find them filled with oil. I dumped a good quart or 2 out of my intercooler. I was just wondering how bad off my turbo is. I know the oil seal is probably blown but what else. Would I need a rebuild? or could I just replace the seal?

Yeah, it spins freely with no shaft play. So would I just have to replace the Seals?

Well I would try it like that and see what happens.Maybe the fact that the return was kinked just coused the oil to push past the seal. There a 50-50 chance it still ok.

Yeah I tried it again after cleaning everything out. and it still shoots oil out the turbine inlet and outlet. Should I rebuild it or try to replace the seals?

for the price of the rebuild kit you might just be able to replace that turbo with a functional used one.. maybe shop around and find the individual seals that you will need without having to buy a kit with a whole lotta parts u don't need.

maybe you could even consider going with another turbo that will fit that sized flange.. you are only running 5psi so even a tiny *** 1g mitsu automatic turbo would work for you.

I plan on boosting 9-10psi once I get my fuel management setup. I guess i'll go ahead and just get it rebuilt at cheapturbo.com for 250 instead of gambling trying to find another turbo or buying a new turbo and spending more money on a new manifold, piping, and downpipe.

um yeah.. ---- that price. I would say go for the hassle and mount another turbo up there, or just rebuild the turbo yourself. No turbo rebuild kit should be over $125 IMO.. Just go find a cheap T25 or some ---- and ride with it for a little while.
