Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
I know people are doing this and its been a while so I'd like to know how well the blocks are holding up. Is the epoxy actually dissipating the heat properly? This seems to be an ideal way to support the cylinders, but I scepticle since its not as mainstream as I would have thought.

yea ask hotrex about it

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
Mines holding up fine. Its been filled for over a year, this year I have been boosted @10psi, not one problem. The only time I had overheating issues is when my slim fan took a dump on me. Otherwise, can't complain.

Hotrex's motor cracked a sleeve because he admittedly did a shitty job tuning.. who tuned it |

21lbs on pump gas + shitty tune= 4 cracked sleeves Its not rocket science here. :1 Even an fmu user can understand that. |

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
well, even though the GE block guard is one of the best. It still does not ditribute pressure evenly like the liquid would. but my though is that the epoxy will not transfer heat as well.
thanks for all the info. this is for a 500+Hp fully built S2000 so I wanted some people with experience to comment before proceeding. i may just go with the block guard this time. |
Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
block gaurds are worthless compared to a filled block, it supports the wrong part of the block where the liquid aluminum supports more. there is a thread on this stickied in the tech forum

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
If you cant afford the 895 for a sleeved block then save your money and get a good tune on stock sleeves.

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
If done properly block filler works. It is, however, no replacement for a sleeved block. Block filler and block posting have been cheap alternatives for years.

The verdict on Josh Coleman's motor was a bad tank of gas. It had been raped on for a few thousand miles with no problems, he filled it up and it immediately ---- the bed with extensive cracking of the sleeves. |
Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
i filled mine a while ago.. but not too sure if i want to crack it back open to make the coolant holes bigger...not trying to buy another head gasket..im sure it will be fine on 12 psi+ a xenocron tune...just have to get it done

I'm surprised some retard hasn't tried BOTh yet, a semi-loose fitting block gaurd expoxied in with devcon. That should give you the best of both worlds. :1

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
I'm waiting for someone to forget to drill the coolant passages! :1 :S

Re: Block Guard using Devcon Alum Liquid
haha yeah. what about that guy who notched his block to fit his rods but took it waaaaayyyyy too far and destroyed his block. that was pretty funny.
