i worked that out but i dont know what one is!

im not gonna get one i just wondered what it is and what it is supposed to do!

They try (hence the word try!) and support the sleeves from moving when boost hits. Distortion of sleeves is possible at higher boost levels. most block guards are ----- because you pound them in, and they do more damage than anything. They reduce cooling on top of the cylinders which makes it more common for detonation. Block posting or sleeving is a better way to go.

Open deck N/A motors have spaces between the cylinders and the edge of the block. This makes them weaker than closed deck blocks so that is why people with open deck blocks use block guards. They are basically used to try and make your block stronger. Some people have problems with cooling when using a block guard though. Posting the block is a better alternative and there is a good article on that in the tech section. Sleeving would be the best option, but it's expensive.
