Blew my headgasket or motor or something
car went tick tick tick at idle. drove like 4 blocks and i let off gas for a sec died instantly like sezing, wstarted it drove another block died. towed it home, took off head, no score marks in walls, no cracks in pistons, headgasket not burnt inbetween cylenders but it looks rough, fluid was in every cylender when i pulled it
, cranks over fine. IM guessing i blew my headgasket but how do i check if I fucked apiston pic too or something if I did can I replace it with a pistons form my other d16 or does it have to be machined? thx guys |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
If you drained the antifreeze before you pulled the head off, and there was fluid in all cylinders, I would say you blew the head gasket. Although it sounds wierd that fluid would be in ALL the cylinders. ???
As for the piston, I wouldn't suggest just throwing a spare one in and not having it machined. You could probably get away with it, but do you want to risk it??? __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL My engine broke 2 ------- pistons, but the head gasket didn't blow!!!! At least my engine went out like a TRUE SOLDIER!!! ;D
Actually, you're lucky it's probably just your head gasket. |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
Was it smoking?
what kind of fluid was in the cylinders? did you do a compresson test before you took the head off? It doesnt take much to blow a head gasket, especially on a6's with that gay ass composite gasket. Jeff |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
it was smoking out of the oil cap when i removed it
it was antifreeze in the middle 2 cylenders. I got a new one and through it backtogether today and ill get it all tourqued up later tommorow and see if it runs. no i didnt do compression test before The head gasket that was on my car was reused like 6 months ago i think the fluid finally got leaking into the cylenders... The new one is felpro or soemthing better be a good one for 30 bucks cdn !!! thx guys. I think myvalves are out of adjustment and thats whats tikking cause it sounds like a diesle, and no valves are bent |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
thats to bad you put another stock a6 gasket on it, even the felpro ones suck ass...
should have saved up and got the factory D16z6 head gasket, its by far the best d-series head gasket they make, its a tripple layer metal, and fits perfectly. They cost like 50 bucks US. Jeff |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
thats what I had on there before
It is the one that blew i swapped my z6 head on and then backed out of it when i couldnt get off my crank pully and reused that gasket. but i guess you cant reuse a head gasket haha. Just needed a quick fiux cause i got a hookup on a b18 for like 200 bucks in mint shape from a wrecker do you think there could be other problems? the cyl walls and pistons looked fine just a few scrathes on each one |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
could be just normal wear, hopfully it was a blown headgasket, and ya normally you dont reuse head gaskets heh..
You will find out tommorow.. eh |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
ya man the headgasket was ripeed/cracked in two places but would still have to cross the metal ring that goes around the cylenders.
just not sure what would cause the ticking i know my plastic timing belt cover came off and caused the squeeking i think the valvces were the ticking but theyve always done that just got louder as fluid leeked in just gott figure out how to adjust them i did it by feel jjust now and got it way better but will do it better next week whenn i get a feeler gauge from work |
Re:Blew my headgasket or motor or something
so you just reused the head gasket when you did you minime swap :-X
