Black Hornet gets old skool hmt duuurty boost no56k updated 01/06/09
hornet is back tearing up the streets.
but got a few problems. think we have air in the system due to the inconsistent idle, and the tac isnt working.
so any of you nig nogs that know a thing or two, throw out some tips

Shitty idle is usually froma post-TB vacuum leak, improperly set idle, or just a crappy motor. Since I never wasted time on obd0 ----, look into whatever controls idle. I could be as simple as adjusting that vacuum dashpot (disc thingy on TB).
One more issue is that the tach has stopped working, it worked just fine when the other motor blew, we put this one it and now nothing, no movement at all.
I think we just have some air in the system as far as the idle goes, but it could be a vaccuum leak.

solid work here indeed! I'll havea you know that that's my old d15 getting put to torcher! and it only has a max of 6months of water, er snow... cause it was donated away from my covered shed in the middle of winter, i remember plowing the snow. The thing idled fine when in my car, so i wouldn't 'adjust anything' but more look for something that is stuck or just get it good and hot! then bleed it.
Dang wish i coulda been there.

Well the hornet got to autocross last thursday. I was racing my car and got a flat tire and we got the bright idea if they let me take another vehicle to use the black hornet. So that is what I did. They don't have seperate classes here as autox is not that big. So out of 12 racers(3 corvettes, 2 300zxTT, Cooper S, 08 STI, E92 M3, crx, civic, Tuscani, and me) we came 7th. We beat the M3 by .04 of a second
.
Anyways here is a video of the last run which was the best and no cones hit

That was with folded over pool hose we have since added about 75hp and are going back to chase Vettes
The hornet got ARP studs and a metal gasket in the head for the D15B7 and friday night is hitting the strip with some loaned 22" slicks to try and get a 13 second pass

Yeah Gawd had a solid drive, especially since:
-It was his first time driving the black hornet ever
-It was his first time auto-xing ever
-The pool hose had to be forced under the hood (see the post about the hornet getting pulled over for driving with no hood) had caused it to Kink nearly flat.
Yup 90dx and myslef tore the head back off today, new intake mani gasket as we had a huge leak, put an MLS gasket and arp studs, in. Then when pistol came up we added a mbc and have it set for about 11psi, and now in 4th and 5th we get clutch slip. :1 So some other guys are on there way in to town tomorrow and they have an extra clutch, that is a bit beefier then stock, so we will swap that in tomorrow, and do a little more tuning, as it is running a bit rich under boost (10:1) so we will lean it up to about 11.5 or so, and see if we can't run some 13's this weekend.
