Big turbos

It seems like we've had a bunch of "is this too big?" posts lately, so here's one more. I'm looking to put this on my 89 240sx. I'm going to be running this motor into the ground, but I want to be able to run this same turbo on my built motor once it's finished. How late will this spool on a 2.4?

What does clipped mean by the way?

Re: Big turbos

clipped means that the wastegate is clipped. the length of the shaft. not the wastegate itselt.

yip, that turbo is pretty big... but if your gonna build your motor, why not use that money to build, and buy the turbo later on?

O, to adjust the wastegate pressure? Shorter = more boost right?

what? last I checked clipped ment that the turbine wheel had a small degree of "clipping" done to the turbine wheel. its supposed to help with top end flow but does hurt spool a little bit. and to anwser the question of Is this too big. I'd say yes its too big for you. that turbo is capable of 500hp and would be laggy as all hell on a 2.4L ka24. you need to look for a T3/t4 or even a straight t3. what are your power goals?

nope a full t4 isn't even going to have a internal wastegate. ::)

Alright... I'm gonna go with a smaller turbo. I just wanted to make sure I couldn't use this, I couldve gotten it for cheap.

How does that one look? Quality looks fine.

Will a t3 exhaust flange work for it?

Re: Big turbos

every thing looks fine too but it seems as if the warranty can be voided fairly easy...(hint turbo failure)
its weird because they provide installation instructions about installing this turbo...and they
are only responsible for half of the turbo...honestly i wouldnt buy this turbo...i know it will
work and u'll save ur self some money but u get what u pay for...

no stay away from that. its the same type of turbo ssautocrap sells. the easiest way I can notice them is by looking at the turbine wheel. if it has a long 12pt looking peice on the end of the shaft its a peice of ----. what are you looking for? I could get you a quality turbo with a warranty for a little more than that. in the $450ish range depending on what you want.
