Default Big Injectors for cheap

Just thought I'd throw a little info out there that I've been researching about over the last week. Now I'm mainly a DSM guy, so I'm not that sure about Honda applications, but since you guys throw DSM injectors on your cars, I don't see why you couldn't use these since DSM guys are throwing these on their cars.

Over the winter, I'm looking to upgrade my injectors so next season I can run E85 since it's plentiful up here in MN, like 40 cents cheaper then 87 gas, and has quite a nice octane rating (over 100). Some of the guys I know up here are having great results with their E85 setups in their DSM's now. So anywho, to run this stuff you need larger injectors since you use around 30% more fuel with E85. It's been pretty common for people to run FIC 1600 injectors, which sell for something like $350. Well I'm always looking for a deal, so I've been trying to figure out how to get them cheaper.

What I found is, Fords CNG (compressed natural gas) lineup of vehicles. Particularly the 96-98 Crown Victoria. The Crown Victoria CNG came stock with low impedance 150/160lb injectors, which converts to around 1600cc's. Now I'm sure some of the other years came with these same injectors, but those years are the ones I'm pretty sure about. Anywho, for any of you looking for some big injectors for cheap, these might work for you.

E85 is ethanol enriched gas right, and any car can run on this ---- but all you need is a tune with more gasoline, and its 40 cents cheaper on the galon,

do anyother modifications need to be done for this setup to work.

Well I suppose that depends on your goals. It's been said that since it does have a much higher ethanol content, that you should worry about anything aluminum, and fuel lines/seals. Well I've been researching the whole E85 topic for a few months now, and know a couple people running it currently. It seems a lot of that is blown out of proportion. There's Turbo Mustang guys that have been running setups for a few years now without any corrosion issues at all. It sounds like if anything, you might start to see some sort of corrosion in 10 years or more, but in reality it's not as bad as what people originally were saying.

So with that being said, it does take on average, 30% more fuel to run your car with E85 then it did with typical pump gas (so that would also mean slightly worse gas milage). So what you do need to address is your fuel system. You need to make sure your pump, injectors, and fuel lines are capable of whatever your goals may be. You'll need around 30% more injector, and 30% more fuel, so you have to make sure your fuel system can support that. I'm pretty sure with my setup, my walbro 255hp pump, stock lines, and aeromotive fpr should work for my goals at this point. My 650cc injectors are going to be a problem though. And since my tuning software can compensate for basically whatever injector I want, I'm just going to go with 1600cc injectors, that way I will never have to worry about those again. Those should be big enough to handle anything I will ever want out of this car, and then some.

Anywho, there's a lot of info out there on E85. I just wanted to let people know about these injectors I found. The more I look, the more I notice how many other people have run these. It appears that Fuel Injector Clinic's 1600cc injectors they sell, even have the ford logo right on them. So these are basically the same injectors they are selling for $320 on their site. I think they might modify the tops of theirs, so their is a slight difference. But for a $150 savings, I'll modify the stuff myself. Looks like occasionally people are having slight issues with getting these to idle well. But it seems using somewhere around a 400us dead time setting is turning the best results.

1600 cc injectors. . so you could use these on just a normal high hp setup. i wonder what kind of numbers people are putting out with these

guy up in sioux falls runs two sets of 850 rc injectors.. thats alot of fuel, i might give these a shot to im in the market for some injectors

Like I said, it seems that these aren't very common injectors, probably because there aren't that many CNG vehicles out there compared to regular gasoline vehicles. So you might have to do some digging to find a place that has some if these guys run out. That's why I made sure my order went through before I shared the info, just to make sure I got some :P

The only problem I see with this is its .40 cheper a galon than say 87, but you use 30% more fuel. So 87 octane gas in my area is 2.39 a galon, 92, is 2.59 so it would be .60 cheper a galon than 92. But now we have a problem, You use 30% more fuel, e85 is $1.99 a galon 30% of 1.99 = about 2.60. So its now .01 more than 92, and you have to buy bigger injectors, a fuel pump, and spend the time to put them in? To to mention you get worse mpg. Why waste the time or the money? ---- it im staying with 92!!! FUCKEN TREE HUGERS!!!!!!! FTW JK

This is more of a "high hp" thing. The other benefit is that you get the high octane rating of around 100.
