Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
i think i seen a pic on the JRC website, that a guy have some brackets bolted to the top brackets that come on the intercooler, and put those in his bumper, what did u guys use to secure it to the bumper, what type of screws self tapping will hold that bitch on there good, thanks

Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
You probably want to use some bolts instead of screws.

Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
bah...i use self tappers to hold my ic on and have every other time as well
|
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
I use zip ties :P

Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
I fabricated some L brackets and bolted them to the intercooler and the bumper support.
The hardest part was drilling through the damn bumper support. I need some new drill bits! |

Bailing wire or Zip ties works great. Remember the charge pipes also help hold it up.

You wouldn't happen to know the measurements on your bumper gap or the bumper hole would ya? I just want to get an IC big enough to fill my 98 Civic Coupes bumper hole. Preferably the core and the endtanks are hidden just like your set-up. That looks REALLY good BTW. Holla Back! ;) Thanks!

Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
like I said that was a 5in IC. The backside of the bumper was cutout to make it fit so nicely. This was one of Tyrus's first intercoolers. Before he even started selling them in mass quanitys.
All the measurements of his current intercoolers are listed on his website. The "Classic" 5 and 6in intercoolers are the ones we have used in the past. http://www.johnnyracecar.com/five.htm http://www.johnnyracecar.com/clsix.htm Heres the 6in mounted on my EF https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...p?topic=2410.0 Mounting either JRC or the CCA on EG's is freaking easy. |
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
So jeff, wil zip ties hold it up there good enough without bolts. It wont move aorund alot or anything
|
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
Zip ties will be fine, like I said the pipes will pretty much hold it in postion, and the zipties can just stablize it.
My 10in TT Ic was held in with zip ties only 8) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo/tt/tt40.jpg |

I got a 98 ex. So an EK. I'm looking to fill the whole front gap with just the core like you did with the EG. I'm looking at a 5" or 6" IC from either JRC or CCA. Which should I get though? Your center mount fits perfect, but I keep hearing off set is the way to go for Hondas. Any idea? P.S. I don't want to hack up my bumper, bumper support, or crossmember. :P JP |
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
i doubt you'll fit anything without cutting the bumper dude

The bumper itself or the bumper support, like the metal part of the car? Look at the classic 6" there's a green and black EK with the stock bumper. JP |
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
its a stock bumper buts its cut on the backside(the plastic not the metal)

Alright word. Thanks. I just really didn't want to hack into the bumper support. I just planned on trimming the black back of the bumper like you said if I had problems. Did you look at that pic though? They kept it. JP |
Re: Best way to mount this JRC 5 in on eg
theres no way they kept all of it...look again, the black slits or whatever are missing from the bottom. Just cut it until it fits.
