Best t3 for budget build?
im turboing my z6 currently. The motor will be setup mostly stock with arp headstuds, new y8 headgasket, stage 2 clutch with lightened flywheel, and new timing belt and water pump. I will be using an hf manifold with hf/t3 adapter plate. I am just wondering what would be the best t3 turbo to use. I would like to be in the high 13's with this build after a good tune so i just would like to gather some information on the best t3 turbo i should get. The best bang for my buck turbo. Thanks

Re: Best t3 for budget build?
.48/.60
or .42/.48 in that order |
Re: Best t3 for budget build?
.48/.60 is the perfect turbo for a stock D series IMO.

Re: Best t3 for budget build?
and just a ballpark figure, what would a ef with a z6 and a t3 .42/.60 run on around 8psi?

Re: Best t3 for budget build?
probably for sure maybe in between 14.9 and 15.2 at fastest
|
Re: Best t3 for budget build?

So which of these would be the .48/.60? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...QQcmdZViewItem or is it this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...QQcmdZViewItem I'm thinking it's the first link but I just wanted to make sure. Sorry to hi-jack your thread... |

Re: Best t3 for budget build?
The first one is the best one, the second is just as well too, and my down2turbo, lasted a long time, and it ran perfect.

Definately don't buy from down2turbo. I've heard story after story of his shitty rebuilds, mine included. It looked nice when I bought it, but didn't look so nice a few months later when it was spewing oil into my charge pipes. They are real Garrett turbos, but he must suck at rebuilding them or something, or maybe he uses shitty parts. |
Re: Best t3 for budget build?
buddies turbo from that guy died fast too. screw him.
|
Re: Best t3 for budget build?
Dang he must have sucked real bad after his business boomed because alot of us had quite a bit of success in the past when he was initially hitting it big on eBay with his turbos.
Anyways mine was running strong when I took it off at 2-3k miles for smogging. Still looks great today... let me know if you are interested. Im planning on going with a bigger turbo since my plans are now a built ls-vtec. |
Re: Best t3 for budget build?
60 trim T3 is wonderful, 50 trims hit pretty hard on stock D-series as well. Can't go wrong with either of them.

Re: Best t3 for budget build?
Yes, i have to agree, T3 60 trim is a great choice for a D series engine.
if the engine is stock, there's no way you will max out a 0.48/0.60 so it's the perfect choice. |
