Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

What is the best head gasket to use. I heared that the buddy club ones are nice and I heard that Cometic head gaskets are really good when going boost. They lower your compression a lil bit and they are stronger than a OEM replacement.

But I dont know? I dont even know if mine is going out it is only leaking oil from right above the block stamp, only in that corner. Maybe the head stud backed off on torque a little bit? The head gasket is only like 5000 mile old!! Why would it leak there and only there. There is no anifreeze in the oil either.

I am stumpped :1

Dount your head gasket is leaking the oil.

Best Gasket: OEM with Copper Spray.

Most b-series leak oil at that corner....don't know why, but it's known amongst honda enthousiats that it happens alot.
most people use OEM..they are one of the best HG you can get.
unless if you want to lower compression you can get a Cometic at the thicknes you want to lower it

If you're leaking oil there, check the VTEC solenoid gasket and the o-ring for the VTEC pressure switch. If that doesn't work, check the o-ring on the distributor and the 10mm hex plugs that hold in the rocker arm shafts they have an aluminum crush washer that you can replace. Most people think that b-series leak oil from the headgasket. The only spot there that could leak oil is from the VTEC oil supply which is on the intake side. There are many other easy things that could be leaking and nobody every bothers to check those first.

Re: Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

yea some of you guys can run the oem honda headgasket because they are multi layered steel but the oem gasket for the dohc zc(same gasket as a 89 teg) are those shitty ass graphite gaskets........try putting boost through those. thats why if you have a zc don't use oem headgaskets. i swear by my Hks

Re: Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

I have allways used OEM head gaskets and never had any problems. I even reused head gaskets a few times. Recently I started using coper spray as an extra peace of mind.

Re: Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

Well I really started looking hard cause I have never seen a head gasket leak in one spot and the car not leak fluid or over heat. Well I was looking and it looks like it is coming from the head. I cant tell if it is the vtec solinoid or the cam seal or something else. I know it isnt the valve cover and that is about all I know! Also I have an off this topic question. When i am going down the road in say fourth or any gear and I am at a higher RPM and I let the car down rev... When I push the gas again to accelerate it puffs out a little bit of smoke the longer the car downrevs the more smoke there is and if it downrevs from the higher RPMs the more the car smokes. What the ---- could it be? I have nop idea piston rings? I dont think so but maybe.

Thanks

Re: Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

does it smoke when you first start it up but then go away when the car warms up? if so its rings but could also be valve stem seals which is very common.........how many miles on the engine?

homicydalboy 02-17-2006 10:36 PM

Re: Best head gasket for Turboed Honda??

No smoke when I warm it up or first start it. The motor doesnt have many miles on it that is why it is so confusing!
